With everything that’s going on in the world, J. Cole opted not to perform a song from his new album during his appearance on Late Night with David Letterman. Instead, the 29-year-old rapper performed his Mike Brown tribute, “Be Free.”

Dressed in all black, J. Cole delivered an emotional rendition of his protest song. “Forget this chain ’cause this ain’t me / Though I’m eternally grateful to Jay Z,” he rapped.

2014 Forest Hills Drive is projected to perform better than his sophomore album Born Sinner, which was released in June 2013.  J. Cole humbly dismissed the projections on Twitter, but if the forecast is correct, Cole will sell 320k-350k copies.

If you want to contribute to those numbers, make sure you cop 2014 Forest Hills Drive on iTunes or a music retailer near you.
