The cast of Selma wants to bring awareness to racial injustices in America on and off the big screen.

History was made this weekend, as Oprah WinfreyDavid Oyewolo, director Ava DuVernay, the town of Selma, and fans marched in honor of the late Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, reenacting his march in Alabama.

Before reaching the bridge over the Alabama River, where Bloody Sunday went down, Oprah told those marching:

‘Every single person who was on that bridge is a hero.’

‘Martin Luther King as an idea, Selma as an idea and what can happen with strategy, with discipline and with love.’

Truly inspiring.

Rapper Common also helped lead Sunday’s march, and was the headliner of a concert that went on just after. He performed his Golden Globe-winning song “Glory” with John Legend.
