After being involved in a fatal car accident that left one woman dead over the weekend, Bruce Jenner is sending his condolences to the victim’s family.

The former Olympic athlete and reality star released a statement through his publicist on Sunday. The 65-year-old reportedly rear-ended a Lexus on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu Saturday afternoon. The multi-vehicle accident started when a Toyota Prius was rear-ended by a white Lexus after it stopped abruptly. Jenner, who was driving a black Cadillac Escalade, then rear-ended the Lexus, which spun the car into oncoming traffic. The Lexus was struck by a Hummer H2 and the driver of the Lexus died at the scene.

“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” Jenner said in a statement released Sunday by his publicist, Alan Nierob.

“It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”

Police confirmed that the driver was a woman, but haven’t released her name to the public.

Five children and two adults were hospitalized after the crash. Jenner wasn’t treated for any injures, but did speak to police before heading home from the accident. Theories about the crash began to spread, including the possibility that Jenner was smoking, texting, or on the phone, but police have yet to confirm his actions in the car before the crash. They have, however, confirmed that paparazzi had nothing to do with it.

Jenner was already making headlines before the accident with his new feminine look, and news that he plans on transitioning into a woman. He is also filming his own docu-series with the E! Network.
