A Nigerian mob allegedly beat a woman to her death and set her on fire after witnesses suspected she was affiliated with Boko Haram. It turns out that the woman had no association with terrorism and had a history of mental illness.

Breitbart reports:

The BBC reports that 33-year-old Thabita Haruna was stopped by vigilantes at a marketplace when she refused to pass through makeshift anti-terror screening procedures. In the ensuing scuffle, many in the crowd noticed that Haruna was carrying bottles around her waist. Believing the bottles to be part of a suicide bomb, they set upon her and beat her to death. BBC adds that the crowd “placed a tyre sprinkled with petrol over the woman’s head and set it alight after she was beaten.”

Officials have yet to make an arrest in connection with the killing.

Meanwhile, two blasts at a busy marketplace in Nigeria have killed at least 10 people today. According to Star Tribune:

The first explosion came from a suicide bomber in a tricycle taxi who blew himself up outside a fish market and killed at least 10 people.

The site continues:

People are still counting the dead but a security officer said the explosion at Baga fish market was massive. He said he counted at least 10 corpses. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to reporters.

About an hour later a second explosion rocked the area.

The second blast happened at the Post Office shopping area, close to the fish market where the first bomb went off, according to witness Baban Musa, who said there were many casualties.

Witnesses say that the blasts had all the hallmarks of the Boko Haram Islamic group. We pray for Nigeria.
