It’s hard to go to a newsstand and not see Kerry Washington somewhere in the mix.
Now she’s on the cover of Ebony magazine, looking slightly different than usual. And not in the same way as that recent InStyle magazine cover that stirred up controversy. Instead of her signature shoulder-length locks, Scandal’s leading lady is sporting a bold look with a bob, bangs, and turquoise eye makeup. Needless to say, Kerry’s owning it. As she usually does.
The cover reads “Kerry Washington: Her Truth In Black and White,” and that’s exactly what we’ll be getting inside the issue. Although the full interview hasn’t been released, a snippet of her discussing her true feelings about Mike Brown and the #BlackLivesMatter movement has surfaced.
Speaking about Mike Brown’s funeral, she said:
“I was really broken that morning. Watching that funeral, I was just broken. And I take all of who I am into a room. That’s where my mind was that day. I’m not going to let anyone segment me or make me exclude parts of who I am because they may be threatening.”
Kerry will also be opening up about her ultra private family life with her husband and daughter. We can’t wait to read the full interview when the issue hits stands on March 20.
