Congratulations to Taraji P. Henson, who won her first Critics’ Choice Award.
Last night, the Empire actress arrived on the red carpet for her grand entrance in an Alexander Wang dress that was anything but basic. Coordinating in head-to-toe black, she completed her look with minimal accessories and a bold lip color. In true Cookie fashion, she strutted to the stage to deliver a colorful acceptance speech after being awarded Best Actress in a Drama Series.
“Thank you Fox you’re bold, you took a shot, you took a risk. I just have to play the truth, hopefully they love her for beating her son with a broom,” she said.
And she couldn’t miss the opportunity to give a special shout-out to her co-star Terrence Howard.
“We created such an incredible family on Empire, there’s no Cookie without Luscious. I fought for you, you owe me 5 percent of your money.”
Then, Taraji ended on a more serious note:
“This means I’m touching lives, that’s why I got into acting.”
The second season of Empire will return on September 23. Let the countdown begin.
