Another celebrity marriage bites the dust.
As we previously reported, Gwen Stefani and her soon-to-be ex-husband Gavin Rossdale were together for 13 years before announcing their divorce last night. Sources say that though the split seems sudden, it’s been “a long time coming” – despite the fact that Stefani and Rossdale have three young children together.
An insider told Us Weekly:
“It only looks sudden, but everything was worked out months ago so paperwork could be filed and the marriage could be ended quickly and easily.”
Strangely enough, the “Hollaback Girl” was last photographed out with Rossdale and their kids – Kingston, 9, Zuma, 6, and Apollo, 17 months, in Los Angeles just a matter of weeks ago. According to the inside source, the 45-year-old Voice coach and 49-year-old rocker tried to save their union after the birth of their third son, but when marital problems persisted, they chose to finally call it quits.
The insider said:
“Things were rocky before then but they tried to make the marriage work, but it just couldn’t. A lot of the feeling was gone.”
While the couple’s breakup is anything but shocking to this source, some of Stefani and Rossdale’s other friends were very surprised by the announcement. One insider told Us that Stefani recently “seemed very happy and was gushing about her life with four boys,” and claimed they saw no signs of a divorce on the way.
Stefani and Rossdale are reportedly seeking joint custody of their children, and plan to divide their assets equally, as they did not have a prenuptial agreement. All the details have been made and the arrangements agreed upon… which pretty much “winds up” their 13-year run.
Love is cruel.
