As charming as he can be, Kanye West has a way of pissing people off.
The latest is fellow fashion designer Anne Bowan, who planned to present her Nomad VII collection on September 16th during New York Fashion Week. Much to her dismay, Kanye announced a surprise NYFW show for his own Kanye West x Adidas Originals Collection and according to reports, his viewing will take place at the exact same time as hers.
After hearing about Kanye’s surprise Yeezy Season 2 show, Anne told Women’s Wear Daily:
“We have been prepping for a year for this at considerable financial, labor, and commitment-cost to our company. Our show date has been scheduled for months and has been on the Fashion Calendar for weeks. We went through all the proper channels to make this a reality. And just yesterday we learned that Kanye West is having a show at the same time on the same date as ours.”
Then added:
“Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this. It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this.”
Is it Ye’s fault that his collection will get more attention? To add a little salt to the wound, Kanye also plans on broadcasting his show in select theaters. Billboard reports:
Season 2 will debut during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 16 and the show will be simulcast in select theaters around the world. On Monday night (Sept. 14) West took to Twitter to announce the list of cities and also shared a link for fans to sign up for tickets. According to the Yeezy Supply website, ‘event passes will be handed out at a first come, first serve basis.’
What can you expect at the presentation? During Yeezy Season 1, which was also streamed in theaters, West debuted the Adidas Yeezy 750 Boost shoe as well as the rapper’s song “Wolves” featuring Vic Mensa and Sia.
