The veteran comedian turned the conversation over to the concept of race being a bigger factor, expressing, “Black women have the hardest gig in show business. You hear Jennifer Lawrence complaining about getting paid less because she’s a woman—if she was black, she’d really have something to complain about.”
Leslie Jones, who was profiled by the prestigious outlet, also chimed in on being treated much more differently as a comedian because of her race, compared to non-minority comedians.
She stated, “Every black comedian in the country knew what I could do. But that doesn’t mean everyone else is paying attention.“
