The Daily Grind Video

Actor Sean Penn is opening up about his controversial Rolling Stone interview with Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman on CBS’ 60 Minutes.

In discussion with journalist Charlie Rose, Penn mentions the regret he has in regards to meeting with the infamous drug lord. The actor’s initial intention was to discuss the lopsided war on the drugs with Guzman, which he didn’t get to touch upon.

Penn told Rose, “We all want this drug problem to stop. And if you are in the moral right, or on the far left, just as many of your children are doing these drugs, just as many of your brothers and sisters, your mothers and fathers, the teachers at school, are doing these drugs.

The Oscar-winning went on to say he is not responsible for El Chapo being captured, so he does not fear for his life. “Here’s the things that we know: We know that the Mexican government … they were clearly very humiliated by the notion that someone found him before they did. Well, nobody found him before they did. We didn’t–we’re not smarter than the DEA or the Mexican intelligence,” Penn said.
