The Beyhive has no chill. Case in point: Rachel Roy.
The womenswear designer was put under fire last month after she posted a message on Instagram that seemed to claim her role as “Becky” in Beyoncé’s song about infidelity called “Sorry.” Not long after the post was made, Beyoncé fans began threatening the 42-year-old on social media over an assumed affair with Jay Z.
“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest,” she told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement on April 26. Adding, “My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted. It was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here — the issue of cyberbullying — and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.”
Clearly, someone was not paying attention to Roy’s cyberbullying point, because her private files were allegedly hacked last week.
According to The Sun, Roy told friends that personal information in files on her computer have been “stolen” in a huge security breach. “Rachel has confided to friends about the stolen emails,” the source said. “She has no idea how they’ve been swiped but is aware how much harm they can cause.”
Roy has gone back to business as usual since the blowup, but did cancel an appearance the Monday after Beyoncé’s Lemonade debuted. We wonder how things will go over, if this sensitive information has more messy tea.
