It’s no secret that Azealia Banks has no filter whatsoever.
The rapper, who is more known for her Twitter beefs than her music, came under fire after a photo of her made its rounds on social media and fans took notice of her lighter complexion. The outspoken femcee responded to a fan who commented under one of the photos: “How can Azealia Banks exude this ‘pro-black’ lifestyle and mentality but IS BLEACHING HER SKIN?”
Azealia “No Filter” Banks responded:
According to reports, Banks used color-altering company Whitenicious for the complexion change. Whitenicious spokeswoman Rebecca Matamba told Bossip that Banks is just one of the company’s celebrity clientele: “She loves Whitenicious and has tweeted about it multiple times. She is one of our many celebrity clients but she is just one of the celebrities who uses it and doesn’t care who knows.”
Banks insinuated that maybe she should bleach her skin earlier this year, after receiving backlash for calling out Macklemore about his song “White Privilege II.” She tweeted, “Wow the media only pays attention when I’m doing bad things. While I’m still viewed as some sort of villainous evil black b*tch. Maybe I should bleach my skin? Then maybe I’ll start getting a bit more respect in hip-hop then.”
As of now, Azealia’s Twitter is still suspended following her racist and homophobic rant against singer ZAYN last month.
