When it comes to Pusha T, you’re either 1. A true fan and have his new album Daytona on repeat 2. Could care less about his album, but his “The Story of Adidon” diss against Drake was fire! or 3. Team Drizzy fo’ life!
Well since the heat has died down between Push and his Champagne Papi archenemy, Push has had some time to reflect.
He did a quick interview with GQ that was quite revealing, even for the most hardcore Pusha T fans. Swipe through for Pusha T highlights about Drake backing down, Push’s weird relationship to Kanye and his feelings about the outdoors. It might stretch your ideas about what King Push is really about…
Push thinks Drake not responding to “The Story of Adidon” was more about Drake than it was about him.
Interviewer: J Prince said that Drake has a response track that would ruin careers, but that J Prince stopped Drake from releasing it. What was your reaction to that?
Pusha T: You know, I don’t know. I just feel like if there was something that was beneficial for either of those two guys, they would do it. I think they’re into doing anything that’s beneficial for them.
Interviewer: Do you think it’s a bluff, or that they’re scared?
Pusha T: I don’t want to call them scared. I just want to say that they’re thinking. They’re doing what’s best for them.
Kanye‘s feelings seem to get in the way of his politics nowadays…instead of actual facts.
Pusha T (on Kanye): We haven’t agreed on a lot of things in life. And we’re still friends. Nine times out of ten, I feel like if I argue my opinion I’m going to come up with way more facts. I feel like he moves off of feeling a lot… I’m around him enough to know that he says certain things and then he’ll see something that doesn’t even agree with something that he says and he’ll be passionate about that as well.
Push was chased by a fox in Wyoming while recording his album…he’s not much of an outdoors person.
Interviewer: Were you scared?
Pusha T: For sure. I’m not an outdoors person.
See.
Push wrote the “I’m lovin’ it” jingle for McDonald’s. This was already sort of known, but just in case you needed a reminder.
Push thinks there’s too much compassion in battle rap now.
Interviewer: How is rap battling in the social media era different?
Pusha T: It’s different because there’s a lot of sympathy and compassion and things like that I didn’t know existed. That’s why it’s not even fun to me anymore.
Interviewer: You can’t say as much.
Pusha T: Bro, it’s weird. It’s so weird. There’s a sentimental aspect that I didn’t know existed. But new rules. I’m learning and discovering a whole bunch of new rules in the rap game. And I’ll just leave it at that.
Guess Push likes his beef served cold and compassion-less…mmm okay.
