As an extension of the platform, AT&T Dream In Black presents Rising Future Makers, as part of AT&T’s ongoing commitment to help students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) rise as the next generation of changemakers—to power their possibilities. AT&T Dream In Black Rising Future Makers is recognizing and rewarding HBCU students who are making a positive impact on their community and on campus.

In this episode of RISING FUTURE MAKERS, our hosts Terrence J and Serayah introduce us to HBCU student Hasani Comer. Just four years ago, Hasani thought his collegiate life was over before it started. During his senior year in high school, Hasani was a promising football player with plenty of college prospects, but he suffered a major setback when his ACL, LCL, and MCL were torn during a game. That injury cost Hasani all of his sports scholarships and left him concerned about the future. Fortunately, the Atlanta native had the opportunity come knocking in the form of his HBCU which stepped in and offered him a walk-on scholarship.

Since enrolling in college, Hasani has had his confidence take off. The soon-to-be 2023 graduate has been pursuing a career in music and plans to visit his family’s village in Cape Coast, Ghana and record a gospel song he wrote with the children in the village.

Thanks to AT&T Hasani is closer than ever to making his dreams reality.

“It’s a true honor to be a Rising Future Maker,” stated Hasani. “If you only knew what this means. Thank you, AT&T Dream In Black. We’ll change the world.”
