Justice has no borders! The final chapter of the The Equalizer franchise is mere months away. Today (April 26), Sony Pictures released the official trailer for the third installment. Click inside to check it out!
We first met the character Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) in the franchise’s first film in 2014. The film focuses on a former U.S. Marine turned DIA intelligence officer who reluctantly returns to action to protect a teenage prostitute from members of the Russian mafia. In 2018’s The Equalizer 2, McCall sets out on a path of revenge after one of his friends is murdered. The newest action thriller will follow suit. Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.

The film also stars Dakota Fanning, who previously co-starred with Washington in 2004’s Man on Fire. This will be the first time the two have worked together on screen since. Additional co-stars include David Denman, Sonia Ben Ammar, Remo Girone, Andrea Dodero, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Andrea Scarduzio, Salvatore Ruocco, Daniele Perrone and Gaia Scodellaro.
Antoine Fuqua directed the film. It marks the fifth film that him and Washington and have collaborated on together following Training Day (2001), The Equalizer (2014), The Magnificent Seven (2016) and The Equalizer 2 (2018). The Equalizer 3 was written by Richard Wenk based on the television series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. Along with Fuqua and Washington, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Clayton Townsend, Alex Siskin, Tony Eldridge and Michael Sloan served as producers. Executive producer duties were handled by David Bloomfield, Tarak Ben Ammar and Andy Mitchell.
