The Newtown shooting in Connecticut this week has hit many of us hard, and President Obama is no exception to that being a father of two girls.

Obama is set to join parents of Newtown Elementary later tonight for the interfaith vigil honoring the victims of the shooting.

The LA Times reports:

Obama will visit privately with families of the victims and with emergency personnel who responded to the shootings. He then will then speak at an interfaith vigil at Newtown High School.

According to the Hartford Courant, Obama is not planning any public appearances during his visit in order to fully honor the families effected.

The president was very emotional as he addressed the nation on Friday, declaring that “every parent in America has a heart heavy with hurt.”

The Connecticut shooting has riled up many to protest gun control, but the members of the Westboro Baptist Church are set to protest during and after Obama’s visit.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, a member of the church, recently tweeted:

“Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.”

Many members have already protested the church’s confliction on the popular website Reddit.com.

We hope that this doesn’t conflict with the President’s visit so that the victims can be honored in peace.
