President Barack Obama spoke today about the looming fiscal cliff, just hours after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) failed to get enough votes to keep his “Plan B” alive.

Obama, Boehner, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are working toward a package that prevents tax hikes on the 98 percent. The president urged bipartisanship in Congress to help them reach a decision that would be best for the economy.

The President said that not everyone could get 100 percent of what they wanted, but he was sure they could reach a deal if everyone worked together:

Everybody’s got to give a little bit. We move forward together or we don’t move forward at all, and that can get done in ten days.

Obama also challenged Congress to think about the hardships that may come if they don’t lay the groundwork for further deficit reduction.

“Call me a hopeless optimist, but I think we can still get it done,” he said.

Looks like Congress’ holiday will be cut short! Obama is NOT playing, he wants this fixed.
