John Galliano has been named the Creative Director of Maison Martin Margiela and what better way to return to the high-end fashion world than with the seal of approval from the Louis Vuitton Don himself, Kanye West?
After receiving news of the announcement, the Yeezus rapper took to Twitter to show his support for Galliano:
JOHN GALLIANO is the new creative director of MARGIELA, I heard this rumor when I was in Paris and just received confirmation this morning!

It is very exciting to see what powerful creatives do at different houses…

Hedi at Saint Laurent, Nicolas at Vuitton and now John at Margiela.

Like West, Galliano is no stranger to controversy. After 15 years at Christian Dior, he was terminated after video surfaced showing him making anti-Semitic comments during a drunken tirade in 2011.
Despite this, Galliano is described as one of the most influential designers of our time and is a four-time recipient of the British Fashion Designer of the Year award.
No question Galliano is a controversial figure, but a fashion icon nonetheless. We’re excited to see what vision he has for MMM as Creative Director.
