Due to a silly rule created by NBA Commissioner David Stern, during Michael Jordan’s 1985 rookie season, the Chicago Bulls star would get fined every time he appeared on the court wearing his red and black Jordan Is. During that time, your shoe needed to have some kind of white in it.
My, have times changed.
Over 25 years later an NBA player can basically wear any kind of shoe he wants, and often times it’s the latest pair of Air Jordans he’s rockin.’
Let’s not get things twisted, however: The Jordan brand, which is under the Nike umbrella, owns 58% of the U.S. basketball shoe market and it’s not because dudes wear em’ on the court. It’s because the shoe crossed over as a lifestyle shoe.
Today is Michael Jordan’s 50th birthday. On the day that where everyone is celebrating the man, the myth of Michael Jordan, we want to take a look at the shoes.
And we could think of no better way of doing this by posting a bunch of pictures of your favorite celebrities wearing Jordans over the years,
