On July 20th of 2012 tragedy struck when James Holmes killed 12 people at a Century movie theater in Aurora, Colorado,

This past week was the one-year anniversary of the horrible tragedy, and the small town made sure to honor it properly.

Gathering with family members of the victims and others who witnessed, citizens of the town made speeches and signs to get the message out there of how hurt Colorado is to this day.

During one speech, Nancy Sheffield, who helped plan the event told the crowd:

“There’s no script for something like this. The city wants the ultimate way to remember the victims, the families, the survivors, in a healing way and going forward for our community.”

It wasn’t just a day to honor their own victims, but also others of gun violence this year as they read over 2,500 names of those who were shot down.

At 12:38 AM, a group of 40 volunteers held a moment of silence to represent the same time that the shots were fired in the movie theater.

We still pray for the victims of the Aurora shooting and hope that the town can heal!
