All good magicians know how to pull off the perfect trick, it’s the sleight of hand that you have to watch. You’ll be watching the magician’s right hand, while his left hand is pulling rabbits out the hat.

STORY: You A Wankster! Dude Who Wanted To Blow Up NYC Wasn’t Serious Says Feds

Can the same be said for the NYPD and Mayor Michael Bloomberg?

The NYPD recently captured 27-year-old Jose Pimentel, a pot smoking, stay to himself loner who has been described by the Mayor as an “al-Qaeda sympathizer,” after it was discovered he was making pipe bombs in his Harlem, NY apartment.

STORY: OH NO! Jose Pimentel, Al-Qaeda Sympathizer, Tried to Blow Up NYPD Cops And Soldiers

Catching a would-be terrorist is a good look for the Mayor and police Commissioner Ray Kelly, considering the last two months have been a public relations nightmare for the NYPD, with the Occupy Wall Street protesters giving them headaches, cases of police brutality, allegations of planting drugs and racism to deal with.

So is catching a weed smoking terrorist considered a great achievement for the fellas at 1 Police Plaza?

The F.B.I. doesn’t think so; the feds along with federal prosecutors kept close tabs on Pimentel and admitted that with all his radical pedigree and Internet rhetoric, they didn’t believe he posed any serious threat.

They characterized him as a big talker who couldn’t carry out his plans without help.

Assessing the entire situation, the Mayor, along with the police Commissioner, drove the point home with a press conference on Sunday night, announcing that they had thwarted a terrorist plot, even going so far as to show a video of what type of damage Pimentel would have caused if he had succeeded in his mission.

Isn’t that the same thing President Obama did when he announce the killing of Osama bin Laden?

David Blaine would be proud of the Mayor and police Commissioner, they both managed to garner a wave of goodwill in one day after being enemies of the city over the last two months.
