It’s full steam ahead as the Republican National Convention touches down in Tampa, FL this week – despite the fact that Tropical Storm Isaac will surely slam the Gulf of Mexico.

VIDEO: The Race Card! Chris Matthews Calls Out Republican Chairman On Racial Tactics

Tropical storms aside, the GOP is slated to invite their usual assortment of speakers; and the conversation will no doubt be about ousting President Barack Obama from office this November.

The best way to get Obama out of office seems to be the only talking point for the GOP platform, which plans to crown Mitt Romney as the man to dethrone Obama this year.

As Conservatives focus on bashing Obama at their convention, issues facing everyday Americans continue to mount. Here are a few things the GOP won’t, but should be, talking about this convention…

In a November 2011 Census, it was revealed that an estimated 49.1 million people (or 16 percent) are now living in poverty due to rising medical costs and other expenses that make it harder for people to stay afloat, according to new census estimates.

The U.S. Census revealed that a record 1 in 15 Americans are the poorest of the poor; the highest it’s been in 35 years since the census bureau has been keeping records.

Although immigration reform was a hotly debated issue this election cycle, Republicans still haven’t reached out to our Latino brothers and sisters. Mitt Romney’s campaign hasn’t uttered a word on how they plan to garner the Latino vote.

In 2008, McCain got 31 percent of the Latino vote. In 2004, George W. Bush got 40 percent. As of now, Romney’s Latino votership is non-existent.

Will the GOP’ers talk about gun control this convention?

The Sikh Temple shooting, Aurora, CO movie massacre and the Empire State Building shooting are only the most recent examples of gun violence. When will they talk about keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people?

Ronald Wallace, Trayvon Martin and 56 people shot in Chicago over the weekend are just a few headlines that are likely to be glossed over during the RNC.

Will the RNC talk about youth violence in America, or will we continue to endure more HE HAS A NAME headlines?

Mitt Romney’s taxes are definitely a topic that won’t be discussed. According to his 2010 tax return, Romney received lucrative tax breaks for “active” participation in the private equity firm he founded, as well as many other investments.

Romney also told Parade Magazine that when it comes to his taxes, he does not want his donation amount to a Mormon church to be revealed.

“Our church doesn’t publish how much people have given,’ he said. ‘This is done entirely privately. One of the downsides of releasing one’s financial information is that this is now all public, but we had never intended our contributions to be known.”

Everything is off limits when it comes to Romney’s past dealings with Bain Capital and his taxes.

As the temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere continues to rise, the Republican platform has been to deny, deny, deny. So don’t expect any new insight from the GOP when it comes to global warming.

Don’t expect any Women’s Health initiatives to come out of the GOP’s RNC. It seems that every time Republicans open their mouths about women, something stupid comes out.

Rape, abortion and preventing contraception all add up to the GOP’s platform for women in 2012.

—–

Occupy Wall Street; the most progressive movement of 2011 into 2012, will definitely not get a mention during the RNC, we’re sure.

The movement that changed the national conversation and focused on income inequality won’t be a talking point during the RNC.

Will income inequality even be discussed at the RNC this year? Probably not!

Like oil and water, gay rights and the Republicans don’t mix. VP pic Paul Ryan has voted YES on banning gay adoptions in DC, a Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage and a Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman.

How to initiate black voters into the Republican Party is a topic we’re sure won’t be spoken of, mainly because the last time Mitt Romney was in front of a group of black people he told them he would end Obamacare if elected.

Not to mention that an NBC poll revealed that 94 percent of blacks will vote for Obama and ZERO will punch their ticket for Romney.
