The shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin has sparked a social justice movement in America like never before. Everyone from President Barack Obama to your favorite celebrity has spoken out on the side of justice for Trayvon Martin.
On February 26th, Trayvon was shot and killed while walking home from a 7-Eleven by neighborhood watch Captain George Zimmerman, 28, in Sanford, Fl.
Zimmerman called the police reporting Trayvon as a “suspicious person” in his Retreat at Twin Lakes community. Zimmerman started following him, but when police told him not to engage, he disregarded their orders. The two got into a confrontation and Zimmerman pulled out his 9mm handgun, shooting Trayvon dead.
Trayvon's shooting has sparked widespread outrage, as his grief-stricken parents are still calling for Zimmerman's immediate arrest.
Continuing to stay strong in the face of intense pain, the Martin family reached out to us and shared some exclusive family photos taken 9 days before Trayvon’s death on February 17, 2012.
