The mood is very somber… We have lost a legend.  Michael Jackson is & probably will always be the most famous person in music worldwide.  A feat that is not easily accomplished.  His life was spent entertaining us with his music, his performances & yes even sometimes his quirky personality.

I have had the privilege of filling in for one of my coworkers on the Madd Hatta Morning Show in Houston on KBXX 97.9 The Box (I normally do middays) the past few days and have been able to experience the outpouring of love for MJ.  I felt special to be able to hear all the wonderful stories of meeting MJ, seeing him in concert at the Summit, Providing security for him at Memorial City Mall, dancing to his music as a child, and even Bun B calling in from London to express how MJ had inspired him even as a rapper!  This man truly touched all corners of the world from London, to Japan, to Senegal (we had a caller from there), to even here in Houston.  Sadly I never got to meet Michael Jackson but was blessed to grow up on his music and that is something I will always cherish.

As a child my dad used to turn on his turntable in the living room once a week and play records for my sisters & I.  Michael Jackson records were always a favorite in fact I believe my parents have a majority of MJ songs on wax! I used to love looking at the drawings in the liner notes of the Thriller album!

Now some would like to bring up the negative aspects of Michael Jackson’s life and to those people I say, ‘don’t you think he’s been through enough?  Let him rest in peace and remember him in a positive light for all the good he’s done for the world of music’.  He was a father, son, brother & a musical icon that will NEVER be replaced.  The world mourns the loss of Michael Jackson (1958-2009).
