Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is saying dueces to his “Jersey Shore” family to pursue his own solo career. The gym, tan, laundry, guru worked it out with MTV and signed a solo development deal, which will have him shooting a pilot for a new solo series as soon as the end of this year. 

Mike isn’t the only “Jersey Shore” cast member to go solo. Pauly D, Snooki and JWoww all have solo deals on the table for development. Mike’s solo show will probably be filled with laughs, but may need lots of translation as well. 

So many stars start off in groups, but break off into solo projects. GlobalGrind decided to highlight the top 10 stars that said, “I’m going solo dolo.”

Beyonce is probably one of the most notorious stars to go solo. She broke away from her Destiny’s Child friends to begin her own solo career in 2003.

Lauren “LC” Conrad was one of the stars of MTV’s hit series “Laguna Beach.” When MTV offered her a solo show, “The Hills,” LC jumped at the deal, leaving most of her “Laguna Beach” co-stars behind.

Michael Jackson was a part of one of the best pop groups of all time, The Jackson 5. Composed of his four brothers, Michael was always the lead singer. When Michael became a teenager he decided he was ditching his brothers to begin his solo career, which paid off big time.

Justin Timberlake got his real claim to fame being in the pop boy band N’ Sync. Being the lead singer and star of the group, Justin decided to pursue a solo career. His solo career went tremendously well and now he’s moved on to acting.

Bobby Brown was in the R&B group New Edition. He was the certified “bad boy” of the group and made it his perogative to ink a solo career. His New Edition cronnies weren’t too happy, but Bobby went on to woo the ladies and released “King of The Stage” which sold a whopping 8 million records.

Gwen Stefani was the front woman of the band No Doubt, but she eventually went solo in 2004. There’s been rumors of a No Doubt reunion and they’ll be releasing an album together in the coming months.

Actress Selena Gomez was once a Disney star on the hit show, “Wizards of Waverly Place.” She eventually began a solo singing career that was still tied to Disney. Finally, she broke away from Disney all together to star in feature films.

Lauryn Hill was a member of the hip-hop group The Fugees, but broke off in 1998 to make one of the best R&B albums of the decade, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”

Courtney Love was a part of the rock group Hole, but she eventually began a solo career to pursue acting and other musical ventures.
