Even before the recent release of her newest single, the name Beyonce Knowles has long been a name in the discussion of girls who run the world.

Often considered the Queen of the rhythm & pop world, Beyonce has proven that she is nothing less than untouchable. Not just any woman is bad enough to lead an army of 200 dancing women through the Mojave; Queen Bey is certified.

Since 2003, we have watched the “female version of a hustler” conquer the music charts as a solo artist. We’ve also seen her explore and excel in other business ventures.

Her quest for perfection in everything she does has made her one of the most successful women in the world. She has branded her name and built an empire around it, touching hearts around the world in the process.

In 2005 Beyonce, along with sister Solange and friend/former group member Kelly Rowland, founded the Survivor Foundation. Initially a charity for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the foundation has become a support system not only for families and survivors of natural disasters, but also for those who suffer from hunger, homelessness and HIV/AIDS.

Beyonce recently teamed up with Michelle Obama on the campaign to end childhood obesity. Bey remade her hit single “Get Me Bodied” and released the workout video “Move Your Body” through the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation.

In 2004, Beyonce and mother Tina Knowles introduced a high-end clothing line House of Dereon, a reflection of Beyonce’s personal style and taste. A few years later Beyonce and sister Solange launched the sister line Dereon, a more affordable, casual line geared towards junior girls.

Following the premiere month of the film “Cadillac Records” in which she played the character of Etta James, a blues singer who suffered from drug addiction, Beyonce donated her entire $4 million paycheck to the Phoenix House rehabilitation charity. In 2010 she went back and opened a cosmotology center there.

Beyonce was chosen to sing at the 2008 Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama enjoyed a dance to Bey’s rendition of Etta James’ classic song “At Last.”

In light of the recent surges of patriotism, this month Beyonce released a remake of Lee Greenwood’s 1984 “God Bless the USA.” Beyonce’s cover is a charity song for the New York Police and Fire Widow’s and Childrens’ Benefit.

Despite all of her success, Beyonce has remained tight with her family. She is a devoted daughter, sister and aunt to Solange’s son Julez, who was once seen rocking a “My Auntie Rocks” t-shirt.

All of this Beyonce balances while holding down her husband, hip-pop mogul Jay-Z. She built it all on her own, with him on her side.
