If you have been on a NYC subway in the past year, chances are you’ve noticed the work of the infamous “Moustache Man.”

He hits subway advertisement posters and writes the word “moustache” over the upper lip of whomever is in the particular ad.

As a lover of all things hip hop, graffiti included, we couldn’t help but be amused by the work of the Moustache Man. The NYPD, however, was not as amused by his antics.

According to the NYPD Transit Department, Moustache Man has caused the city $1,500 in damages and they will get it, because he has been caught.

So who is this guy? The Moustache Man is a clean shaven 26-year-old man named Joseph Patrick Waldo who was apprehended on June 18th at 47th Street and 8th avenue in New York City.

“I’m sorry for my actions and have agreed to fully cooperate and never do it again,” Waldo reportedly said.  He was released without bail and has vowed to stay out of trouble. He is still facing felony criminal mischief and graffiti charges, however.

We completely understand why he got into trouble, but we hope everything works out for the Moustache Man. If he’s smart he will figure out how to turn his antics into a commercial success.

After all, this is America and stranger things have happened!
