I had a blast last night at Nicola Formichetti’s pop up shop in Tribeca! That’s me above with Nick Genest AKA Zombie Boy, a muse of Mr. Formichetti’s. Zombie Boy is wearing a t-shirt he designed. It reads: ‘Kill Me.’

The Kill Me shirt is of two shirts up for sale in the unique shop which is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

People are fond of calling the space the inside of a disco-ball, but for me, the experience was like being in another world.

When I got to the shop, the AC had stopped working and I felt myself cooking as I looked around at tens of dozens of reflected images of myself on the ceiling, on the wall and on the floor, a brilliant execution of design concocted by venerable designer Formichetti and skilled architects Gage/Clemenceau who see the space as a robotic chapel.

The folks who arranged it all was BOFFO, a non profit that fosters collaborations between artists, designers, community, theorists and the media in the exploration of contemporary subject matter that informs and educates the public through innovative, participatory arts and culture programming.

The company is based in NYC and the Formichetti pop-up store is one in a series of traveling spaces set to open around NYC.

I absolutely loved it, this chapel/disco-ball/diamond! There was light, humor, color, sex, death, leather, spikes and a boatload of ideas that Mr. Formichetti has produced for Lady Gaga. I’m not a Lady Gaga fan, but seeing her outfits in a context separate from her identity on stage almost made me one. I appreciated the pieces as object d’art.

The best part of the experience was meeting Mr. Zombie, who was both friendly and a little shy.

Images from the shop are in the gallery above!

The shop is located at 57 Walker Street and will sell different items each day.
