We all know T-Boz, aka Tionne Watkins, as one of the members, alongside Chilli and Left-Eye, of the multi-platinum ’90s music group, TLC.

Since the end of the “No Scrubs” music group, we haven’t seen T-Boz in the spotlight as much. Behind the scenes of TLC, T-Boz was fighting a battle of her own, which didn’t involve fighting for a Grammy, or fighting off fans.

She was battling sickle cell anemia, a blood disease that would hold her back more and more as she aged.

T-Boz opened up in a recent interview with CNN about her chronic illness and the journey through it as a major music artist.

“Doctors, they didn’t give me a happy ending. You won’t live past 30, you’ll be disabled your whole life. You’ll never have kids. I was looking around the room like, ‘I don’t know who he’s talking to cause that’s not my story.'”

T-Boz is stronger than we all think, because on top of battling this disease, she had to fight and go through the removal of a brain tumor. Although the risk of the tumor is now lessened, she suffers from poor balance because of the effect it has on her brain.

At the end of the interview, she goes on to talk about her releasing a solo album! We’re proud of T-Boz and all of her accomplishments and her strength.
