Mary J. Blige will take her fans back and then give them a peek into the future with a concert celebrating her super iconic album, My Life.
American Express, in partnership with VEVO and YouTube, has announced that MJB will be the latest performer in its popular livestream music series, “American Express Unstaged.”
The program has featured Arcade Fire, John Legend & The Roots, Sugarland, Duran Duran, My Morning Jacket and most recently, Coldplay. Mary will be the first solo artist to perform in the series.
Adam Shankman, who cast Mary in the upcoming film Rock of Ages, will direct the livestream performance, which will be livestreamed from Club Nokia in Los Angeles, at 11:00 PM ET / 8:00 PM PT on Thursday, November 17th at YouTube.com/MaryJBligeVEVO.
During the performance she will perform the hits from her 1994 breakthrough album My Life and it’s sequel My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act I), which is set to be released on November 21st.
“We’re going to do the first My Life in its entirety—really make it something special,” Mary told The New York Times. “And once we’re done with that, we’re going to do some of My Life II.”
And, if you want more Mary after the livestream on the 17th, she has three other intimate shows scheduled for this month including Oakland (11/11), New York City (11/23), and Atlanta (11/25).
