GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann went head-to-head with Jane Schmidt, a Iowa high school student who is the president of Waverly High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance.
Jane confronted Bachmann on her same-sex marriage stance when the Republican candidate visited the Iowa high school.
Schmidt pressed the Congresswoman after Bachmann said “We all have the same civil rights.”
Schmidt then asked “Then, why can’t same-sex couples get married?”
“They can get married,” Bachmann responded. “But they abide by the same law as everyone else. They can marry a man if they’re a woman. Or they can marry a woman if they’re a man.”
It was a back and forth exchange that was better than any of the Republican debates we’ve seen thus far and well worth a watch. Take a look at how it all went down!
