**UPDATE**

The New York City medical examiner has positively identified the body that was recovered in the Hudson River on Wednesday as Tyler Clementi, the Rutgers University student who is believed to have committed suicide last week after his sexual encounter was streamed live on the Internet.

The 18-year-old Clementi’s death was ruled a suicide, with the cause determined to be drowning with blunt impact injuries to the torso, said Grace Burgess, a spokeswoman for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner. The injuries were consistent with a fall from a height, she said.

Rutgers University student, Tyler Clementi, 18,  told his roommate that he needed their shared room to himself for the night, but Clementi was unaware that his roommate Dharun Ravi and friend Molly Wei would be live-streaming him in a sexual encounter with another male student.

Ravi and Wei, both 18, have been charged with planting a webcam in a Rutgers dorm and broadcasting a classmate’s sexual encounter. Clementi is believed to have committed suicide.

Dharun and Molly have both been charged with invasion of privacy for broadcasting a classmate’s September 19 sexual encounter. (It’s illegal to create pornography without the subject’s consent in New Jersey.) Local sources report that the victim ‘was believed to have jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge’ (which connects New Jersey to Manhattan) shortly thereafter.

Here is what Dharun tweeted the night his roommate was taped without his knowledge. The next day Clementi’s belongings were found on the bridge.
