As it turns out, former Soul Train host Don Cornelius died with two life insurance policies worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. And ex-wife Viktoria Chapman Cornelius will reportedly get a very generous lump sum of money.
STORY: Don Cornelius Dead At 75
Chapman was Cornelius’ second wife. The late host was previously married to a woman named Delores, with whom he had two sons.
As for Viktoria, her marriage to Cornelius was fiery to say the least. In 2008, Cornelius was convicted of domestic abuse and he claims Viktoria pepper sprayed him on a couple of occasions.
The couple divorced in 2009 and according to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Cornelius said:
“I am 72 years old. I have significant health issues. I want to finalize this divorce before I die.”
The divorce was finalized but a special provision stated that Cornelius must make Viktoria the beneficiary of both of his life insurance policies, which totaled around $300,000.
