Famous ice cream makers Ben & Jerry’s has come under fire recently for their new ice cream flavor dedicated to Knicks point guard and superstar Jeremy Lin.

The limited edition “Taste The Lin-Sanity” flavor was only sold for a few days in the Harvard Square location before controversy arose over the inclusion of “fortune cookie pieces.”

After initially replacing the first batches, Ben & Jerry’s has now issued a formal apology to anyone that was offended by the ice flavor. The company told ESPN:

“We offer a heartfelt apology if anyone was offended by our handmade Lin-Sanity flavor,” said the company. “Our intention was to create a flavor to honor Jeremy Lin’s accomplishments and his meteoric rise in the NBA, and recognize that he was a local Harvard graduate. We try (to) demonstrate our commitment as a Boston-based, valued-led business and if we failed in this instance we offer our sincere apologies.”

“Taste The Lin-Sanity” which originally included flavors of vanilla frozen yogurt, lychee honey swirls and fortune cookie pieces have now been replaced by waffle cookies.

This comes after the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA)  advised the media and businesses not to use certain kinds of language that can be offensive or make certain references to the rising Knicks star just for easy puns.

We wonder what Jeremy himself has to be say about all of this?!

Will you be testing out the new flavor?
