David Otunga used to be known as ‘Punk’ on the VH1 reality show I Love New York, but over the past few years, he’s become known as Jennifer Hudson’s fiancé.

We never get to hear much from the professional wrestler and Harvard Law graduate, but now he’s breaking his silence!

David recently made an appearance on Wendy Williams to chat about how he met J. Hud and gave some of the details on their relationship.

On How He & Jennifer First Met
She first noticed me on [I Love New York]. I started doing a lot of interviews after the show wrapped and made friends with a couple of people. Next thing you know he’s like, ‘Hey, you should meet my friend Jennifer.’ I was like okay, I don’t know, we kind of started talking. Every conversation she was asking me about the show. It’s like, okay, is she just a fan or…

On Jennifer’s Family Tragedy & Her Saying He Saved Her Life
You know that’s uh, that was a hard time and back then I had just started wrestling and I had gone to Tampa. We had just gotten engaged and I had asked her to come down there and be with me and she did obviously she came down there and that’s where we were when the tragedy happened. It’s a blessing in disguise, you know –

Wendy: If she hadn’t come to see you she would have gone to Chicago to visit her mother.
David That’s where she would’ve been was at her mom’s house. That’s where she always was if I wasn’t there.

On Counseling Jennifer to Take the Witness Stand
I’m just here to support her anyway that I can — emotionally, just through everything. It’ll be nice to put it behind us finally.

On When They’re Getting Married
This is probably the second most popular question I get. The wedding is coming, but like you said there’s a trial we have to get through first. Some things we need to sort out in terms of that but it’s coming. It’s coming.
