Azealia Banks had to make waves across the pond before she could ripple the waters of the red, white and blue.
But now with major cosigns by Kanye West and luxury fashion’s elite, Banks is on the way to establishing herself as a star on both the hometown and international fronts.
But way before she rocked out private fashion show after-parties and Coachella stages, she was hanging out on Dipset music video sets getting shut down by Rocafella general Dame Dash.
The “212” rapper admitted in a recent interview with Vibe magazine that she was hype to freestyle some bars for the industry giant when she ran into him at Juelz Santana’s video shoot for “Jingle Bellz,” but was instantly shut down without even uttering a single lyric.
“I was prepared to spit for Dame Dash, but he kind of just went ‘Nah’ and walked away,” Banks said.
“[And] Juelz,” Banks continued, “looked at me like, ‘Whose little sister is here? Please get her the f*ck out.'”
Well damn. Harlem world took a loss that day!
But with a buzz so big, and an upcoming performance on Hot97’s Summer Jam stage, it’s safe to say Banks is doing pretty alright without them.
