Today, MTV announced the 2012 MTV Movie Awards host. Russell Brand will be hosting the award show this upcoming June 3 live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.

But it was no surprise to many people on the edge of their seats waiting for MTV to announce this year’s host because Russell has hosted a slew of MTV award shows in the past. Feels like they’re beginning to repeatedly recycle Katy Perry‘s ex-husband, if you ask me.

But, they’ve been known to reuse comedians over and over again. When Arsenio Hall was at the peak of his career, he hosted the MTV Video Music Awards four years in a row; 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991. Jimmy Fallon has also been used more than once.

Russell hosted the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, and now the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Don’t get me wrong, the 36-year-old comedian is hilarious, but can we get some new talent on the stage or someone that would have us saying “ah man, I can’t wait to tune in ..what is he or she going to do now?”

You know who I’d like to see back in action? Dave Chappelle! Picture Tyrone Biggums crackin’ jokes on Diddy in the front row! Although he’s been out of the comedic-spotlight the past few years, an award show like this would be perfect for a return!

Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer of the show, feels Russell is the perfect host, though. He told MTV News:

“He has amazing comedic chops. He’s brilliant. He touches all of the areas that I think are important to us. Add to that I think he’s one of the most professional people I’ve worked with in terms of comedians. He’s well-studied and very dedicated to his craft. I think we’re very fortunate that he said ‘yes.'”

If you had to choose, who would you pick as the host of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards?
