The pretty girl R&B songstress, Keri Hilson, known for her songwriting, music, as well as female empowerment, has found another way to help enourage a positive change in the world.

As the foundations 2012 Ambassador, she will be not only be participating but leading the MTV Staying Alive Foundation team for the AIDS Walk New York 2012.

The purpose of the 10km walkathon around Central Park is to “take steps” towards bringing awareness and to raise money for the Staying Alive Foundation, which focuses on the ever-present disease of HIV/AIDS.

The foundation which has been around for over ten years has always been an advocate in helping many people who have or are involved with the HIV/AIDS disease, providing them with education, awareness, prevention, as well as support in any way they can.

Keri, who is this year’s ambassador of the organization is thrilled and honored to be in a position where she is able to help spread the message in any way that she can.

She tells MTV:

“I’ve met such amazing young people in their inspirational mission to break taboos, foster tolerance, and spread the message of HIV protection in their local communities,

“I am honoured in my capacity as Ambassador of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to take part in such a great initiative, and I encourage everyone to help in some way – come out and join me or donate at www.stayingalivefoundation.org on behalf of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation!”

All donations made from the walk will go to the 2012 AIDS walk-a-thon MTV Staying Alive Foundation and 2012 AIDS Walk organiser GMHC, a not-for-profit, national leadership organization that helps fight against AIDS.  

Additionally launching later on today on the MTV Staying Alive Foundation Website (and there will be a series of four videos that will feature Keri giving her fans encouragement to participate in the walk with her and to donate for the cause.  

It’s nice to see someone be apart of and fight for a good cause! Everyone should not only support Keri and the cause, but find a way to get involved!
