With novelty stores filled with gadgets, lotions, gels, and specialty prophylactics, people are thriving on feeling utter pleasure. Most guys want to feel the “raw-dog” sensation without confronting the prospective risks. Condom makers have been getting more creative. From ribbed, to ultra thin, and warming substances greased inside, men are craving more. It’s been understood that the female should take some form of birth control to help prevent potential pregnancies. However, a new era is upon us, and I’m not sure it is a promising one.

Now, scientists have created a birth control pill and shot for men. In healthy relationships, this may not be a bad idea. But, there are so many guys out there who are sowing their oats, that one would have to question the other risk involved. Guys will pop a pill and think they can bang anything walking because they don’t have to worry about the condom breaking or slipping off, that could eventually lead to an unplanned pregnancy.  Also, the married man that is sleeping around on his wife can now say he is off the hook from explaining why there were open condom rappers found in his car.  I am not sure that this is the best solution to bringing sexual gratification, while still preventing pregnancies.

Females are not above the curve either. You have females that are sleeping around as well and just don’t give any regard to the unhealthy factors that fall into play. For women, scientists have made the morning after pill “Plan B,” as an over-the-counter agent. A female has 72 hours after penetration to take this in order to kill off any chance of a possible pregnancy. The problem with this is, any female can walk up to a pharmacy and request this pill. They ask to see an ID for age verification and then make you sign for it, and just like that, you can pay for this pill. Your information isn’t put in a system or anything. So the next couple of days, that same female can have unprotected sex with someone else and go buy another morning after pill without any trouble at all. These pills are not a license to be promiscuous.

I just can’t help but think of all the sexual transmitted disease may increase. Also, there are countless commercials about lawyers willing to represent victims of serious birth control side effects, like blood clots and even death, in various birth control products. So whose to say that the new birth control methods for men and women are any safer than those. With so many health questions up in the air, are “Plan B” and the male birth control pill or shot really worth some of the long term consequences that companies may be trying to hide?
