What’s beef?

Well, if you could ask late great rapper Notorious B.I.G. he would have said:

“Beef is when you need two gats to go to sleep/ Beef is when your moms ain’t safe up in the streets/Beef is when I see you/Guaranteed to be an ICU.”

Thankfully, the most intense hip-pop beefs in the past 10 years didn’t end with anyone in the ICU, but they did end in a few ruined careers, bruised egos, and surprisingly, in court.

DETAILS: OH HELL NAH! Watch Nas’ Plot To Hang Jay-Z At Hot 97’s Summer Jam!

The most intense hip-hop beed in the last decade has to go to two of the best rappers to ever do it- Jay-Z and Nas

Jay and Nas’ beef heated up with Jay-Z dropped the “Takeover” on the Blueprint. The diss track was a great surprise to Queensbridge rapper, but it was all good because Nas had some lyrical napalm up his sleeve.

Nas dropped “Ether” and New York City had to pick a side.

Hip-Hop fans had to decide who won the battle, but just as people were leaning towards Nas’ “Ether,” Jay-Z dropped “Super Ugly.”

And then things got confusing. Who was the best?

Was it Queens rapper Nas? Or was it Brooklyn’s finest Jay-Z?

Jay-Z and Nas’ beef is still one of the most talked about hip-hop beefs, and the verdict is still out on who won the war.

But yesterday, the ‘net was shocked when a behind the scenes video of Nas planning on “hanging Jay-Z” at Hot 97’s Summer Jam was posted on all the blogs.

LIST: 10 Rappers Who Fried, Dyed, & Laid Their Hair To The Side

Hip-Hop fans probably didn’t realize at the time, but Nas was not playing with Jay-Z and was totally ready to take his beef to a whole new level.

Despite Nas’ feelings, Hot 97 decided to draw the line and wouldn’t let Nas lynch Jay-Z during their concert. Nas wasn’t a happy camper and decided to skip out on the show entirely, but some 10 years later, we think Nas is probably glad he didn’t lynch Jay on stage.

Click through our list and check out the 10 most intense hip-pop beefs in the past 10 years!

10. Lindsay Lohan vs. Pitbull– This beef is not really a beef, but Lindsay and Pitbull’s issues went all the way to court. Pitbull’s line in “Give Me Everything,” is what landed him in hot water and facing a judge in court. Apparently, Lindsay didn’t take Pitbull’s “I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan,” as a compliment and decided to sue the Cuban rapper.

Despite the “beef,” Pitbull attempted to extend the party girl the olive branch and invite her to his VMA after party. Lindsay didn’t come of course, and the case is still pending.

9. Kreayshawn vs. Rick Ross– “Gucci Gucci” rapper Kreayshawn found herself in very hot water backstage at the MTV VMAs. After attempting to freestyle on Cosmic Kev’s radio show, Kreayshawn tried to find a word to rhyme with “boss,” and unfortunately for her, she came up with the phrase “faker than Rick Ross.” The boss Ricky Rozay was happy about the shots she fired at him so he confronted her backstage at the Video Music Awards. Kreayshawn kept her cool, but ultimately she looked like she wanted to piss herself when Rozay was only a few feet from her yelling. Rick Ross then went on to tell XXL mag that he would pay someone 50k to mess us Kreayshawn’s week.

8. Nicki Minaj vs. Hot 97– All hell broke loose at this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam when Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg dissed Nicki Minaj and her commercial hit “Starships.”

Not liking to be disrespected, Nicki Minaj decided to pull out of the show only hours before she was set to perform. Not really feeling Nicki reaction, Funkmaster Flex jumped in on the drama and added fuel to the fire already blazing. Ranting about how she didn’t sell any records and declaring that he was “dedicated to tearing her down” Flex only made the situation worse.

After everyone calmed down, Nicki agreed to call into Flex’s radio show to discuss why she pulled out. The call ended with the two hip-hop heads to agrees to disagree. Nicki vowed to never perform at another Summer Jam, and Peter Rosenberg still refuses to apologize about the debacle.

7. T.I. Vs Lil Flip– Rappers T.I. and Lil Flip were fighting to become the official “king of the south,” but the friendly rivalry turned serious when Lil Flip had a few choice words for T.I. when he was in jail alluding that T.I. was a “snitch.”

T.I. got wind of Lil Flip’s diss and called him out as soon as he got out of jail. Refering to their beef as “filet mignon,” T.I. made it a point to go after Lil Flip and his career.

T.I. and Lil Flip’s camps even came to blows when they ran into each other in Lil Flip’s hometown of Houston. The fight was allegedly caught on tape, and the south was forever divided. T.I. eventually came out on top, as most of us haven’t heard a peep from Lil Flip in years.

6. Beanie Sigel Vs. Jadakiss– Ruff Ryders rapper Jadakiss kicked off his beef with Beanie Sigel when he implied Philly rappers were biting his style. Beanie Sigel released a diss record to Jadakiss over his “Put Ya Hands Up.” Jadakiss fired back with another diss record coming at Beanie. Jada and Beanie fired back and forth at each other. The beef never turned violent, but was definitely one of the most entertaining beefs of the last decade.

5. 50 Cent vs. Young Buck– 50’s beef with Young Buck started when he dismissed the Nashville rapper from G-Unit citing the rapper had a drug problem and was an impulsive spender. 50 Cent recorded a few conversations he had with Young Buck and decided to release a few sound bites. Young Buck fired back with a diss track called “Taped Conversations.”

50 Cent retaliated by releasing the entire audio of all the tapes including ones of Young Buck crying. There were so many battles during this beef, and 50 won ever last one.

4. Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj– Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj’s beef has been on-going for the past two years now. It all stemmed from Lil Kim feeling that Nicki Minaj was firing shots at her in her music.

Despite, Nicki Minaj’s public honorary odes to the Queen Bee, Lil Kim wasn’t buying Nicki’s “innocent” act. Lil Kim launched a verbal assault on Nicki Minaj and Nicki fired back and has continously fired back ever since!

Calling Lil Kim every thing from “stupid hoe” to refering to her as Bubbles the monkey, Nicki Minaj has waged a war on the “Hardcore” rapper and two years later the battle is still on.

3. 50 Cent Vs. Rick Ross– 50 Cent is the king of hip-hop beef. He’s ruined many careers in his lifetime, but his beef with Rick Ross was a tough battle to win.

Rick Ross fired shots at 50 Cent on his 2009 track “Mafia Music.” 50 responded with “Officer Ricky (Go Ahead Try Me).” Rick Ross went on the radio the next day and talked more sh*t about 50 Cent, and prompted 50 to release “Warning Shot.”

Eventually, 50 Cent outed Rick Ross and The Smoking Gun revealed to the world that Rick Ross was a correctional officer at a Florida prison. Rick Ross adamantly denied being a C.O., but legal documents were released with Rozay’s social security number, picture, and birth certificate confirming his career in law enforcement.

50 Cent took the beef to another level by contacting Rick Ross’ baby mother Tia Kemp. 50 got Tia to talk about her relationship with Rick Ross and how his rap career is based off lies. 50 took Tia shopping, and even convinced Tia to pose with him on the cover of Smooth magazine.

Rick Ross then did an interview with Missinfo, which ultimately led to Def Jam putting a gag order on Rick Ross banning him from speaking publicly about his beef with 50 Cent.

2. 50 Cent Vs. Ja Rule– 50 Cent’s most infamous beef was with Murder, Inc rapper Ja Rule . The origin of this beef is still unclear, but rumors of Ja Rule being robbed by a friend of 50 Cent to Ja Rule allegedly snubbing 50 at a video shoot.

50 and Ja encountered each other where things got heated and physical.

50 eventually released ” Life’s On The Line” which was a diss to Ja. Things got really heated when 50 got into a fight with Murder, Inc’s Blackchild. Black Child stabbed 50 Cent, but claimed 50 was reaching for a gun. 50 eventually filed a restraining order against Irv Gotti and Black Child. He then waged war against Murder, Inc and made countless diss records towards Ja and the whole Murder, Inc. family.

Ja Rule fired back with “Blood In My Eye,” and the beef continued. Eventually, hip-hop heads were worried that the beef would end with one or both rappers dead so Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan intervened to get the men to call a truce.

Ja Rule was down to squash the beef, but 50 dismissed Ja’s attempt at peace. 50 eventually let Ja Rule live and Ja eventually faded into the history books of hip-hop when Murder, Inc headquarters were raided by the feds.
