Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises hits theaters this Friday and it will be the biggest blockbuster of the summer – rightfully so.

STORY: Go Behind The Scenes Of Highly Anticipated “Dark Knight Rises” Movie

That is a bold prediction considering that Marvel’s The Avengers shattered the record that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 set.

The Avengers attained an unforeseen amount of $207,438,708, while Harry Potter made $169,489,427, shattering the all-time box office record by nearly $40 million.

If you were willing to spend your money on The Avengers, then there’s absolutely no reason not to do the same for the ending of Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

If there’s any director to have faith in today, it’s Christopher Nolan; who may be the best director of the 21st Century.

Christopher Nolan has five movies currently ranked on IMDb’s Top 250, which is a reliable measure ranking the top 250 most popular films of all time.

On the list, Nolan has Batman Begins (2005) at #115, The Prestige (2006) at #70, Memento (2000) at #33, Inception (2010) at #15, and of course, The Dark Knight (2008) at #8.

If his past is any indication, the trilogy’s finale will join his other five films in the top 250. Also note that the only other movie he made since the year 2000 is Insomnia (2002) starring Al Pacino, Robin Williams, and Hilary Swank. Although it was not ranked on IMDb’s list, the movie received a score of 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, an acclaimed movie critic website.

Furthermore, if you remember The Dark Knight, which set the box office record when it came out in 2008 and is #3 currently, you would be a fool to not see its follow-up.

The Joker portrayal by Heath Ledger will be one of the greatest and most memorable acting performances of our lifetime.

The Academy thought so when they made him the first man to win an Oscar posthumously, when he won in the category for Best Supporting Actor. Below is a video of the more memorable scenes of the Joker.

The Dark Knight has set the bar extremely and probably unfairly high. It will be difficult for Tom Hardy, playing the villain Bane, to surpass the performance of Ledger as the Joker.

Hardy will do his best, as he’ll wear a mask, designed to appear like an angry gorilla, and looks like something out of Silence of the Lambs. His voice, masked and altered, adds a Darth Vader-like essence for the lead villain.

With all that in Hardy’s favor, it will still be nearly impossible for the breakout Inception star to upstage Heath Ledger’s Joker.

Even so, Nolan’s unique handling of the Batman trilogy has taken him to new heights in the film world, and Dark Knight Rises will continue his dominance in Hollywood.

Ledger’s success was the acknowledgement from the film world that Christopher Nolan had changed the super hero genre.

Nothing against The Avengers, which was a great movie, or other superhero films; but by nature they are extremely predictable and often corny.

However; Nolan’s take on the superhero movie is different. Even though the characters are still in tight costumes, and it’s the hero vs. villain, good vs. evil, to save the world, it’s much darker and it has a much realer feel to it than any other movie of the genre.

So it’s no surprise that Nolan was asked to write the script for 2013’s Superman movie reboot. Superman movies have never done well or been too popular, so if anyone can save that franchise, it’s Nolan.

However, Nolan decided to back out of Man of Steel in order to focus on Dark Knight Rises. Nolan’s dedication should only increase movie-goers confidence that this film will reach and even exceed expectations.

In addition, the film’s all-star cast of Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson and Marion Cotillard; includes some of the most well-known and award-winning actors and actresses today.

Bale, Hardy, Levitt, Caine, and Cotillard have worked with Nolan before. So there’s obviously a strong relationship and chemistry between the director and his actors.

Mass hype surrounding this film is already evident. Rotten Tomatoes had to end all fan comments on the movie because there were a few movie critics receiving threats, including Marshall Fine of Hollywood & Fine, Christy Lemire of the Associated Press and Nick Pinkerton of the Village Voice, who had given the film a bad review.

If critics’ opinions on a movie have warranted death threats, the movie is more than worth it to see whether or not you like the series.

The film is currently an 86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes after being reviewed by 113 critics. The Dark Knight, in comparison, is a 94 percent.

Should it be ranked higher or lower? You be the judge. Go out this weekend to see the highly anticipated finale. Here’s the full-length trailer below, just as a reminder for what’s coming.
