President Barack Obama has to be the coolest President the United States will ever witness.
Not only does he sport boyish good looks, but the 51-year-old President also seems to be up on the coolest things in pop culture, especially in hip-hop.
In 2010, President Barack Obama did an interview with Rolling Stone, where he talked about hip-hop and his love for music:
“Thanks to Reggie [the president’s personal aide], my rap palate has greatly improved. Jay-Z used to be sort of what predominated, but now I’ve got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert. Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things. Music is still a great source of joy and occasional solace in the midst of what can be some difficult days.”
It was then when the world realized that Barack Obama loved one of the best rappers alive, Jay-Z.
Citing that he loves the art of hip-hop, but “doesn’t always like its message,” President Obama has had a lot of “hip-hop” moments during his presidency.
Recently, Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj made a head-scratching endorsement to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney during her “Mercy” freestyle.
Understanding Nicki’s odd sense of humor, President Obama played along with the Pink Friday rapper, blaming the endorsement on one of her many “alter-egos.”

On Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4 mixtape freestyle “Mercy,” Nicki Minaj rapped, “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy b*tches are f*cking up the economy.”
The President was asked about his thoughts on Nicki’s apparent “endorsement” of Mitt Romney and he replied:
“I’m not sure that is actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But, she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.”
After hearing the President’s response and understanding of her self-proclaimed “sarcasm,” Nicki Minaj tweeted:
“HA!Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones do…sends love and support @Barack Obama”
President Barack Obama praises Lil Wayne’s success, but urges kids to stay in school.
President Barack Obama met rapper Ludacris at a fundraiser to empower American youth in 2006, but has been critical of the rappers’ “offensive lyrics” about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former president George Bush. Earlier this year, Ludacris also gave the President customized headphones.
When Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV VMAs, the President was asked for his thoughts on the situation. He revealed that he thought Yeezy was a “jackass” for being rude to Taylor.
President Obama shouts out rapper Young Jeezy at the 2012 White House Correspondents Dinner. In 2008, the Atlanta rapper made a song entitled “My President Is Black,” which became a smash record. During his speech, President Obama said:
“In my first term, I sang Al Green. In my second term, I’ll sing Young Jeezy. Michelle said “yeah.” I sing that to her sometimes.”
In 2007, Barack Obama invited Chicago rappers The Cool Kids to rock the stage at his “Change Rocks” fundraiser.
