Good Morning America host Robin Roberts is recovering well today after undergoing a recent bone marrow transplant. The news anchor is expected to make a full recovery and be home as early as next week.

According to Roberts, who has been keeping fans updated on her condition via her blog:

“The only numbers that matter are my blood counts and they are. . . GREAT!…My sister Sally-Ann’s stem cells apparently feel right at home in my body — an answer to so many prayers.”

Roberts is suffering from Myelodysplastic syndrome, a disorder spurred by her treatment for breast cancer last year. Her sister donated marrow, which was transplanted into Roberts on Sept. 20.

If the transplant fails, her condition could worsen to leukemia.

But Roberts is looking on the bright side, thanks to excellent care at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, she said.

“My doctors and rock star nurses are very pleased with my progress and I could not be more thankful for the excellent care I am receiving. I have had some extremely painful days and it’s still difficult for me to eat because of all the chemo…I continue to learn so much on this journey, especially when it comes to true friendship and love.”

On Wednesday, Roberts was paid a visit by her pals, GMA weatherman Sam Champion and the show’s co-host, Josh Elliott.

Champion posted a picture of the trio — both her visitors were wearing surgical masks, while Roberts can be seen grinning ear-to-ear — on his Facebook page yesterday.

Good to see that Roberts is on a productive road to recovery and we wish her all the best!
