Scarlett Johansson looks a little gothic in her 1990s-inspired cover of W Magazine’s November issue.

Complete with dark-lined lips and a nose ring, ScarJo shares this month’s cover with actresses Keira Knightley, Mia Wasikowska, and Rooney Mara, who are also representing different decades ranging from the ’80s up to the present, for W’s Anniversary issue.

Here’s some of the stand out pieces from the ladies’ interviews with the fashion tome!

Scarlett, on her favorite person from the 90s:

“Chris Farley. I thought he was hilarious. Growing up, I used to watch Saturday Night Live just to see him. He threw his whole body into the parts he played: He’d become red and sweaty and frantic. When he died, it was really significant for me.

Keira, on fashion trends of the 2000s that she dislikes:

“I think skinny jeans and micro-miniskirts are very unfriendly. I’ve been known to wear both, but on some days it seems like they were invented to make you feel bad about yourself.”

Mia, on who she feels embodies the 1980s the most:

“Madonna. She’s the icon. She’s wholly her own person.”

Rooney, on her favorite 1970s film:

“Paper Moon. I saw it only last year. David [Fincher] made me watch it, and I think I’ve seen it five times since then… I love that ending—it’s not too happy-happy.”
