Target has become synonymous with working with luxury designers to bring their designs to a lower pricepoint and wider market. And the latest designer set to get onto the red shelves of Target is Prabal Gurung!

Gurung, whose gowns have been seen on women ranging from Michelle Obama and Pippa Middleton, to Emma Watson and Kate Hudson, sees his upcoming collaboration as a necessity as a fairly new designer in his field.

“It’s almost like a rite of passage for new, young designers, you know what I mean?” he says about his upcoming collaborative effort.

Huge names like Rodarte, Proenza Schouler and Jason Wu have already collaborated with Target. Now it’s Prabal’s turn to launch a collection with the super-store. Four years after launching his own label, Gurung will release his 80-plus-piece collection of clothes, bags, jewelry and shoes to hit stores on February 10th, 2013.

Prices will range from $19.99 for a T-shirt to $199.99 for a leather jacket. Although not much else is known about the collection, we think it’s safe to say a lot of people hope it won’t be all over in 2012, because we have some really awesome things to look forward to next year!
