Just days after a man was pushed to his death by a train in Queens, a young woman was struck and killed by a No. 2 train when she climbed down onto the tracks in the early hours of the New Year.

The incident happened at the 34th Street and Seventh Avenue Penn Station stop, just blocks away from New Year’s Eve revelers in Times Square. The New York Daily News reports that she was not pushed, but climbed down to the tracks by herself.

A police source told the newspaper that she walked down a flight of service stairs to the track bed at about 5:20 a.m.

She then apparently laid down on the tracks at the mouth of the tunnel just as a northbound No. 2 train rolled into the station and struck her.

Emergency crews quickly responded but the woman was already dead.

Police have not released the name of the woman, but reports suggest that she might have been intoxicated.

The NYPD is investigating.

With all of these recent subway related deaths, MTA should do more to protect the riders. Or we need to be more careful. Either way, we’re praying for her family.
