2013 is definitely full of surprises.

NEW VIDEO: Iggy Azalea “Bac 2 Tha Future (My Time)”

During a recent interview, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea dropped a surprising detail regarding the production of her forthcoming debut album.

Last year, it was announced that Atlanta rapper T.I. would be overseeing her debut album as executive producer, but it’s a new year, and Iggy is starting fresh, without T.I…

After working tirelessly with T.I. on her Glory EP this summer, Iggy and T.I. both came to the conclusion that the Trouble Man rapper should relinquish his duties as executive producer on her actual album.

When asked about T.I. executive producing her forthcoming debut album, Iggy dropped a bomb, stating:

“T.I.’s actually not executive producing my album anymore. He was going to be, but originally, all the records that I had on Glory were supposed to be on The New Classic, and he executive produced what ended up being Glory. But as I was making it, I felt like, ‘This isn’t The New Classic. This is something else. It’s not the right sound.’ Not that it sounded bad, but it wasn’t what The New Classic is in my head, it went good, it was an experience, but after, he said and I said it’s better if I just make my own music away from him because sometimes being around him, it influences the music I make to be a bit too much of a different sound. It’s not because I don’t love, because I love him.”

Although T.I. isn’t working on Iggy’s new album, she’s still part of Tip’s Grand Hustle family and they’re both still very close.

Iggy’s forthcoming album, The New Classic, is set to be released this summer with its first single arriving sometime in February.
