After a request was made to re-examine the cause of Amy Winehouse‘s death in July 2011, a second coroner’s inquest confirmed that Winehouse died of accidental alcohol poisoning.

DETAILS: HMMM…Amy Winehouse’s Cause Of Death To Be Re-Examined

Coroner Shirley Radcliffe ruled that the 27-year-old singer died as a result of her resuming drinking after a long period of abstinence.

According to the Huffington Post:

“[Winehouse] died as a result of alcohol toxicity” and recorded a verdict of death by misadventure. Radcliffe said there were no suspicious circumstances.

She said that Winehouse “voluntarily consumed alcohol — a deliberate act that took an unexpected turn and led to her death.”

Radcliffe also added that a postmortem had found that Winehouse had a blood alcohol level five times the legal driving limit, which could fatally affect the central nervous system.

The first examination, which caused the original coroner to resign after he was found to lack the proper qualification for the job, produced the same results.
