Hello again my faithful readers. I know I promised this blog would be about my life in the day of a publicist, but I feel at this moment something so much more important needs to be touched upon.

As I had mentioned in my previous blog, I am originally from the great state of Texas. It’s loud, it’s proud, it’s huge, and it happens to be the only state in the United States that could secede from our nation and become its own country. I am not sure on the factuality of my next statement, but I do believe we are the only state (if not one of the few) that teaches its own state history as a class to junior high and high school students. For those of you who may not know much about the Gulf of Mexico, please allow me to enlighten you.

The Gulf of Mexico appears to be dirty due to the mud and silt that flows into it from the long and winding Mississippi River. For the most part, the gulf is not dirty at all and is actually thriving with many different species of aquatic and wildlife that cannot be found in other areas of the world. It is a place where endangered sea turtles spend a great deal of time, an area where dolphins, sharks, and manatees thrive and breed. Its home – to me and many other proud southerners. You see, to come from the South (particularly the Gulf of Mexico) you need to be tough. People who grow up and stay in this area for their entire lives live through hurricane seasons every summer through early fall. They live in a humid, moist climate that is home to frequent tornadoes, heat lightening, rattlesnakes, and the hard-shelled armadillo. The states located in this area are part of the great “bible belt” where religion and football are all that matters. The most important things you’ll ever learn about this area is that the people here are exceedingly humble and friendly.

As you can tell I have a great fondness for the area I grew up in. I love the other states as much as I love Texas. There is something different about people down there – in a good way. The food taste better and people take pride and joy in what they do with their lives. Unlike Los Angeles, if you play in a band and perform in the south your fans will fill the venue, buy your merchandise, and they will sing, jump, and dance along to your songs. Louisiana is just beginning to recover from the disaster of Katrina a few years ago, and now they are hit with this oil spill.

What are you doing to help BP? Every single person within the oil industry should get off their fat, over paid asses and do something about this. I don’t care if you work for Chevron, BP, or Shell. Don’t you care about the community in which your business thrives? Most of the people who live in these areas have jobs within the oil industry. It practically supports the entire city of Houston. So why have we passed the half way point to what will soon be 100 days of infection in the Gulf of Mexico? I’d like to ask Obama just exactly whose ass he plans to kick. From where I sit I see a whole lot of talk and not nearly enough walk taking place. It sickens me to think of how this area is affected by the sludge that is slowly taking over its environment.

Remember the hurricanes I mentioned earlier? Hurricane season begins in August. Regardless of whether or not a hurricane actually comes ashore to damage properties and land there will still be thunder and tropical storms a plenty. The precipitation and movement of theses storms tends to flow easily through the gulf and with the combination of heat, winds, and rain we will begin to see a whole new way for thi
