The rambling manifesto that ex-LAPD cop and Naval Reservist Christopher Dorner posted on Facebook isn’t the only message he was trying to get out.

Yesterday it was revealed that Dorner actually reached out directly to CNN host Anderson Cooper with a parcel that was delivered to the New York office.

The package, however, was received days before Dorner allegedly went on a murder spree in the Irvine and Corona areas in California. According to CNN, it was opened by Cooper’s assistant:

Inside was a hand-labeled DVD, accompanied by a yellow Post-it note reading, in part, “I never lied” — apparently in reference to his 2008 dismissal from the LAPD.

The package also contained a coin wrapped in duct tape. The tape bears the hand-written inscription: “Thanks, but no thanks, Will Bratton.” It also had letters that may be read as “IMOA,” which could be a commonly used Internet abbreviation for “Imagine a More Open America,” or possibly “1 MOA,” which means one minute of angle, perhaps implying Dorner was notably accurate with a firearm.

The coin is a souvenir medallion from former LAPD Chief William Bratton, of a type often given out as keepsakes. This one, though, was shot through with bullet holes: three bullet holes to the center and on that nicked off the top.

The news network alerted Bratton and are now cooperating with the police. Dorner is still on the run.

“He could be anywhere at this point,” said San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon.

“We don’t know what he’s going to do,” said Cindy Bachman, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, one of many law enforcement agencies whose primary purpose Thursday became finding Dorner. “We know what he’s capable of doing. And we need to find him.”

The search extended across California from the U.S.-Mexico border through Nevada, from suburban streets to military bases, narrowed in on a cold, snowy mountain Thursday night 80 miles east of Los Angeles where Dorner’s burned truck was found. Schools in the Big Bear area remain closed on Friday.

Wow! This is more intense than a movie. Do you trust that authorities will find Dorner?
